During the court hearing the prosecution recommended Rowdy Rebel receive 7 years behind bars and 8 years for Shmurda. Both Shmurda and Rebel’s lawyers seemed to be happy with the recommendation because they were expecting a lot worse.

Rowdy’s lawyer told XXL that he felt the recommendation was “reasonable.” “Usually they’re heavy-handed,”
The trial is reportedly going to take up to two months to complete and it is expected to be finalized Thanksgiving, but could be extended into January of next year!

YG was shot in Los Angeles last month and he has finally decided to speak out on the altercation. During an interview with Billboard, the west coast rapper revealed he was only shot once and says he has no idea who fired shots at him, but he is positive that it wasn’t gang related.
“It was not gang-related at all,” the 25-year-old told Billboard. “It just happened out of the blue. We don’t know who did it, we don’t know why. We don’t know nothing.” He continued, “I got lucky because a main artery is right there, right around the groin. The bullet didn’t go that deep, and it didn’t hit any bones.”
YG also revealed when he was on the way to the hospital the car he was in got in to a car accident, and they had to hop in another vehicle to make it.
“After I got shot, I’m telling everybody, ‘Take me to the hospital, because I can’t die.’ We hop in my homie’s car and bam — we got in a car accident! We hit an island trying to avoid another car. We had to hop out of the totaled car, hop in another car. At the hospital we had to tell people, ‘Take me serious right now — you don’t even understand what’s going on.’ It was wild.”

NEWS: PDP condemns House fracas, accuses Buhari of bias

National Publicity Secretary, Peoples Democratic Party, Mr. Olisa Metuh
The Peoples Democratic Party has condemned what it described as a show of shame and national embarrassment, Thursday’s fracas in the House of Representatives.
It said the ugly development brings to question President Muhammadu Buhari and his party’s commitment to democracy, unity and the stability of the country.
The PDP said “the disgraceful act” was a direct consequence of President Buhari’s lack of democratic credentials to respect the independence and sanctity of the legislative arm of government, the very citadel of democracy, as enshrined in the nation’s constitution.
PDP National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, in a statement in Ahuja on Thursday said “the barbaric attempt to physically assault a duly elected Speaker, seize the mace, the authority of the House, is a direct attack on the Nigerian parliament which embodies the supremacy of the people and our freedom as a democratic nation.”
Metuh said what Nigerians witnessed in the House on Thursday clearly underscores the fact that the All Progressives Congress has exhausted its excuses and has now imported its internal contradictions into an independent arm of government as a way to further cover its lack of ideas for governance.
He added that intelligence available to the PDP showed that “the brawling APC lawmakers ostensibly acted on instructions from the Presidency, an obvious indication that President Buhari is largely an interested party whose involvement is beyond mere body language.”
Metuh said the dishonourable conduct from the unruly lawmakers in acting out the script did not come to the opposition party, alleging that the affected lawmakers were bred and nurtured under a political platform that it described as lacking discipline and thrives on violence as an unwritten manifesto.
He said, “We state unequivocally that the onus lies on President Buhari to ensure that all democratic institutions are harnessed for effectiveness, a responsibility he has apparently abdicated by allowing his personal interest to instigate division in the parliament, a tendency that poses great threat to the survival of our democracy and the stability of the nation.”
Metuh said the continued confusion in the APC-led government was a confirmation of its earlier stand that the APC “lacks the capacity and democratic discipline to effectively steer the ship of the nation and face the challenges of governance at the center.”
“If a party that has since March 28, 2015, when it got its victory, about 90 days ago, cannot resolve a basic issue of selecting its leadership in the National Assembly, clearly, their competence for national governance comes to question,” Metuh added.
He applauded the Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, for “his comportment, especially his statesmanly remarks after the unfortunate incident and urged him to continue to display maturity and not yield any ground in his duties to protect the independence of the legislature.”

NEWS: Why Buhari won’t intervene in NASS crisis – Aide

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, on Thursday said President Muhammadu Buhari would not intervene in the leadership crisis currently rocking the National Assembly until the All Progressives Congress’ state governors ask him to do so.
Shehu said this while featuring on Sunrise, a programme of a Lagos-based private television station, ChannelsTV.
He said Buhari would only step into the matter at the point when the APC state governors inform him that they cannot fix the problem.
He said that was necessary because the governors had during a meeting they had with the President on Tuesday night promised to handle the issue.
He said, “When the governors met with the President, they told him that ‘we are the leaders in our states and we have influence over all of these senators. They come from our places and from us and we can handle it.’
“The President will step into the crisis at the point when the governors say they can no longer fix it.”
In the event that he decides to intervene, the presidential spokesman said Buhari would not do that to the level of imposing leaders on the lawmakers.
Shehu said Buhari’s position on the matter had remained that the National Assembly is an independent arm of government and he would not be seen meddling in their affairs.
He said the governors while advising the President to maintain his posture, asked him to allow them handle the matter their own way.
He said the President has a responsibility to the party and to the nation.
He also said despite what was currently playing out in the National Assembly, the situation had not gone out of control.
“The President has a responsibility to the party, the President has a responsibility to the nation and as far as we are looking at the situation it has not gotten out of control. It is still within manageable parameters, it is a little storm we will overcome and Nigerians better get used to it,” he added.
Apparently reacting to a statement credited to the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Alhaji Lai Muhammed, that Buhari is not the leader of the party, Shehu said the President was the leader.
“Does it need to be said? I don’t think it needs to be said that the President is the leader of his party. There’s no question about it,” he declared.
He added that there is need for Nigerians to understand the basics of politics as the country is no more in the military era when decrees are made by a single leader.
“Politics, as its theory says, is basically about contest for interests and these interests may be fully defined by political party programme, while some of these things may be outside political party programme,” he said.
While corroborating Buhari’s claim that he inherited virtually empty treasury, the presidential spokesman challenged Nigerians to ask a former Minister of National Planning, Dr. Abubakar Suleiman, to give further explanations on the $30billion he claimed the former government left behind.

NEWS: Assassins are after my lawyer – Suspended PDP chairman

Suspended Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party, Bayelsa State chapter, Col. Sam Inokoba (retd.), has told the State High Court that strange persons suspected to be hired assassins are trailing his lead counsel, Chief Sylvanus Abila.
Inokoba, who said his lawyer was being trailed day and night, stated that the development started since he (Abila) began to handle the suit challenging the decision of the PDP to expel nine leaders of the party in the state.
The embattled Inokoba, while speaking during the court’s session presided over by the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Kate Abiri, said his counsel “now receives strange phone calls asides being trailed by certain unknown faces within Yenagoa.”
Inokoba said Abila, who was engaged to carry out his legitimate duty as a legal practitioner, should not be intimidated for any reason in the course of the various court proceedings instituted to regain his mandate as the authentic and elected State Chairman of the PDP.
At the hearing, a fresh substantive suit challenging the appointment of Chief Serena Dokubo-Spiff as Acting State Chairman of the PDP was filed before the court.
In the originating summons filed by Abila, lead counsel for Inokoba, the plaintiff was asking the court to nullify the appointment of an Acting Chairman as he said it was contrary to the relevant sections of the PDP’s constitution.
There are two substantive cases before the court in the suit numbers YHC/86/2015 filed on the June 15, 2015 and YHC/80/2015 filed on June 8, 2015. These cases were filed after an earlier one was withdrawn.
In the new suits, the plaintiff prayed the court to declare the action of the PDP Disciplinary Committee headed by Mr.Cleopas Moses null and void for contravening the party’s constitution.
Inokoba is also seeking an order of interlocutory injunction restraining the 1st to 10th defendants which included Governor Seriake Dickson and Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Kemasuode Wodu, from taking any further investigation of alleged misconduct against him pending the determination of the substantive suits.
In the suit number YHC/80/2015, the defendants are Governor Seriake Dickson as 1st defendant, Attorney-General as 2nd defendant and Chief Serena Dokubo-Spiff as 3rd defendant.
In the suit, the plaintiff asked the court to determine whether Chief Dokubo-Spiff could hold the office of Acting State PDP Chairman while at the same time serving as a Commissioner in the Bayelsa State Judicial Commission.
Inokoba said as the duly elected State Chairman of the PDP, he was also seeking an order restraining Dokubo-Spiff from parading himself as the Acting State Chairman of the PDP in Bayelsa State.
In this suit, both the Governor and the Attorney-General had been duly served by the court baillif but Chief Dokubo-Spiff had reportedly been evading service.
To be able to get Chief Dokubo-Spiff served, Abila has filed an ex parte motion to use substituted service by pasting the court processes at the entrance to the PDP Secretariat along Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha Road in Yenagoa.
Abila restated that it would be a disrespect to the judicial system and abuse for Chief Dokubo-Spiff or anyone to continue to refer to him as Acting Chairman of the party when a substantive case challenging that position was before a law court.

NEWS: The United states condemns latest Boko Haram attacks

the United States of America has condemned the latest Boko Haram attacks in Borno State which resulted in the death of more than 40 people.
According to the US, the recent attacks are a reminder of the terrorist group’s capability to wreak major havoc.
In a statement issued in Washington by the US Department of State’s spokesman, John Kirby, the US called on the Federal Government to hold those responsible for the attacks accountable.
“We offer our deepest sympathy and condolences to the families and friends of the victims of recent attacks in Borno State, attacks that resulted in more than 40 deaths. We condemn in the strongest terms the continued and widespread violence inflicted by Boko Haram on innocent men, women, and children in Nigeria. Those responsible must be held accountable.
“These latest attacks serve as a reminder that despite progress on the battlefield, Boko Haram remains capable of deadly and destabilizing acts of terrorism. We commend the efforts by the Nigerian military, as well as the militaries of Chad, Niger, and Cameroon for the gains they have made fighting Boko Haram,” Kirby stated.
The US, however, urged President Muhammadu Buhari to take further steps to secure and “govern liberated areas by filling in behind military successes with police and civilian administration.”

“The United States stands with Nigeria in the face of this threat. We will continue to take steps to increase our support for their efforts,” the statement added.
Last week, the US promised to work with President Buhari to stop the menace of the insurgents in Nigeria and neighbouring countries.
The US Assistant Secretary, Bureau of African Affairs, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, during a telephone press briefing in South Africa last week, said that the American government was committed to ensuring that Nigeria wins its battle against the terrorist group.
Thomas-Greenfield added that the US was committing $5m to Nigeria’s efforts at defeating Boko Haram and that Nigeria had been receiving equipment and technical assistance from the US.

Members of the house Reps exchange blows over leadership tussle, Mace disappears

nigeria-assembly
A serious fight has broken out among members of the House of Representatives, with the federal lawmakers exchanging blows.
At the plenary of the House on Thursday, the tension and divided interest among the legislators led to a brawl, which is still ongoing as of the time of filing this report, between the two factions in the chamber.
At the heart of the fighting is the leadership crisis, which has engulfed the House since the controversial inauguration of the National Assembly on June 9.
The Mace, which is the symbol of authority of the House, has disappeared, as the lawmakers continue with their fighting.
It is learnt that the Mace has however been ferried to the inner office of the Speaker, Yakubu Dogara.
Confusion currently prevails in the Green Chamber, with no one appearing to be in charge.
Some loyalists surround the Speaker, with each of them trying to tell Dogara what do in the midst of the confusion in the House.

Gucci Mane Will Not Be Released From Prison Early

Gucci Mane has been locked up in prison for almost two years now on federal gun charges, but we recently reported on rumors claiming the Atlanta rapper could be getting out as early as July of 2015. Although the rumors claimed he would be getting out July 11th, the rappers lawyer has shot down all rumors during an interview with MTV News.
“We do not know where that rumor came from, so that’s just Internet and social media fabrication,” Findling said to MTV News. “We have no idea where that release date came from because we’re still in the midst of resolving things with the Bureau of Prisons. There was some confusion on their part, about his release date. I can’t get into specifics, but we’re in the midst of corresponding with the Bureau of Prisons,” Findling added. “I’m trying to iron out a specific release date for him, but that I can tell you that is not his release date. There’s nothing formal about that. It’s a product of social media.” (XXL)
