Two Female students of the University of Benin,,Ugbowo Campus were hit by an oncoming vehicle at 10:15Am sunday morning,,19th July 2015.
It was gathered that the two girls were hit by an Army Vehicle with the inscription “Thunder Storm Patrol 28″ while they were crossing the Lagos/Benin Expressway which is just in front of the school gate.
They were both coming out of their off-campus hostels Located at BDPA Beside Odaro Plaza.
After the hit,,one of the girls was found lying on the road while the girl who was hit first was found in the bush close to the Road side and they were both rushed to the hospital.
An I.D Card found in one of the girl’s Bag indicated she was a 200 level student of philosophy while the details of the other cannot be confirmed yet.
As at the time of filing this report,,it was gathered that the 200 level philosophy student named Halim Rita Awele was dead while the other girl is in critical conditions. She is currently suffering from internal Bleeding.
Different reactions have rolled in on the danger of that express road just in front of the school. Separating an off-campus from the school gate.
Here is what the ex-secretary general of the SUG,,precious erhiabo had to say about the situation.
“It hurts
The solution is this, we take up diggers and shovel to that road tomorrow, no one will tell the government to take over and either construct a flyover or make speed break.
The SUG can take this up tomorrow being a public holiday. We all should be there because volunteers are needed too.
Rest in peace to one of ours, it could have been you or me.”

fathers turn homes to torture chambers for children

battered children

Eight-year-old Shina Adegbolu, a basic three pupil of a primary school in Ikotun area of Lagos was taken for treatment at the Igando General Hospital on July 5, 2015. But an observant nurse knew something was wrong as soon as he saw the boy and his injuries.
Shina’s 34-year-old father, Idris, took him for treatment with the complaint that the boy fell down and sustained an injury on his buttocks.
But the nurse tactically separated the boy from his father and asked about the true cause of the extensive sore that had developed on the boy’s buttocks.
Shina quietly explained that he had not been able to sit for about five days since his father gave him a violent beating with a stick for stealing.
The nurse treated the boy but rather than confront the father, she took down his address and phone number and contacted a non-governmental organisation for action on the boy’s case.
When our correspondent tracked down the man, he confirmed the boy’s story even though he tried to play down the impact his beating had on his son.
“I only beat him once because he stole N500. I don’t usually beat him and I was just angry that day. That was why I beat him. The beating did not cause the sore. It was after he could not sit down that his step-mother used warm water to treat the buttocks and a tiny wound there developed into the sore,” Idris told our correspondent.
A subdued, shy and gaunt Shina told our correspondent that he was simply very hungry the day he took the money because his father and step-mother refused to feed him.
“When my father started to look for the money, I returned the N500. But he was angry and beat me till neighbours came to drag me away from him. I could not sit when I went to school and my teacher sent me home when I could not sit to write,” Shina said.
Neighbours at their Ikotun residence told Saturday PUNCH that Idris beat his son mercilessly regularly that they feared that he was going to kill him one day.
“Nobody said he should not discipline his child but it is no longer punishment when you beat a child as if you want to kill him,” one neighbour told our correspondent.
Cases of extreme corporal punishment in the hands of parents in Nigeria may not be an entirely new phenomenon but the recent rise in such deadly torture calls to question the laws protecting children and the reasons parents have to resort to such deadly means to discipline their children.
The United Nations Children’s Fund explains that child abuse includes all forms of physical and emotional ill-treatment, sexual abuse, neglect, and exploitation that result in actual or potential harm to the child’s health, development or dignity.
According to a UNICEF report on violence against children, on average, about six in 10 children worldwide (almost 1 billion) between the ages of two and 14 are subjected to physical (corporal) punishment by their caregivers on a regular basis, many of which lead to death.
UNICEF says Nigeria had the highest number of such deaths (due to intentional injuries) in 2012 with almost 13,000 deaths, followed by Brazil with approximately 11,000.
UNICEF agrees that reliable data on violence against children in Nigeria is scarce “because violence is often not reported as it occurs mostly within the context where it is regarded as ‘normal’ such as within the family circle or behind the privacy of homes.”
Deadly parents, frightening homefront
Idris maintained he was just trying to discipline his son to make him a better person. But for little Shina, that home is the most dreaded place in the world for him.
Our correspondent noticed the body language between Shina and his father. It was clearly of a boy that was terrified of the man he called father.
“My mummy is dead. I want to run away because my daddy beats me too much. But I don’t know where to go,” Shina told our correspondent out of the earshot of his father.
Idris was handed over to the police. But he was not charged to court.
He was made to write an undertaking that he would never hurt the boy and any extreme punishment would land him in bigger trouble.
“I am not a monster that they made me out to be. Is it wrong for one to punish his own child for wrongdoing?” he said.
Elsewhere in Lagos, a father fled home after nearly killing his daughter.
Thirty-seven-year-old Monsurat Kazeem was crying when she told our correspondent about her ordeal and that of her children in the hands of her 40-year-old husband, Kamoni.
“He has been acting like someone with a mental illness since he lost his job. Our lives have been hell,” she said.
But the problem in their house goes beyond just the maltreatment in the hands of Kamoni.
On July 7, 2015, vigilantes on a patrol rescued their 12-year-old daughter Kafayat, in the middle of the night as she hid in front of a shop at Oyingbo Market, Lagos.
The state in which the girl was found prompted the vigilantes to instantly rush the girl to the hospital.
She had been beaten brutally with a wire, leaving scary marks on the girl’s chest.
Kafayat said her father turned on her when she intervened in a fight between him and her mother as he brutalised her for playing lotto.
“My mother screamed for help as my daddy beat her. She was shouting for help but the neighbours did not come out. He was always beating her. But when I held his hand to stop, he started to beat me also.
“He did not use his hands to beat me, he used wire and I thought he was about to kill me. But after taking more than 20 lashes, I was able to run away. I want mummy to take us back to Ilorin. I am afraid of living with our father again.”
But Kafayat’s mother told a slightly different story.
She said, “Please, don’t think that I am trying to cover up for my husband. The truth is losing his job has affected him very much that he has become aggressive.
“I am a petty trader and whenever I go out to hawk, he accuses me of having an affair. There was a time he was arrested and sent to prison for something he did not do. I sold everything I had for his legal defence. I had to resort to playing lotto just to survive at the time.
“When he got back from prison, he started to harass me for playing lotto. He is always suspicious about everything I do. He always punishes the children but not up to inflicting so much injury like he did on Kafayat. Kafayat sometimes steals and that day, she did something wrong that angered her father. I only came back from hawking to see that he had brutally beaten and injured Kafayat and he was sorry for what he did.”
The police are looking for Kamoni presently as he has fled his home.
When our correspondent spoke with him on the phone, he was sobbing as he explained that his action was “the devil’s work.”
“Please, government should have mercy on me. I was not in my right mind when I beat my daughter to that extent. I was only afraid that they would lock me up; that’s why I ran away,” Kamoni said.
But for Kafayat, the scar of such violent treatment in the hands of her father is something she probably would live to remember. When our correspondent spoke with Kamoni on the phone, he was profusely apologetic.
“Please, I was only angry. I regret everything I did now. I love my daughter. But my anger overwhelmed me that day. I am willing to report myself to the government now. But please, I don’t want to be locked up,” he said.
For children like this, the home, which is supposed to provide the expected protection and warmth needed for their balanced development is like a torture chamber.
A United Nations’ report on violence against children states, “A basic assumption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, contained in its preamble, is that the family is the natural environment for the growth and well-being of all its members — and particularly children — thereby recognising that the family has the greatest potential to protect children and provide for their physical and emotional safety.
“The exposure of children to violence in their homes on a frequent basis, usually through fights between parents or between a mother and her partner, can severely affect a child’s well-being, personal development and social interaction in childhood and adulthood.”
The Nigerian Child Rights Acts 2003 expressly criminalises any form of punishment that harms a child either physically or emotionally.
Section 11 of the CRA states, “(a) No child shall be subjected to physical, mental or emotional injury, abuse, neglect or maltreatment, including sexual abuse; or (b) subjected to torture, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.”
But few parents seem to be aware that beating their children to the point of inflicting deadly injuries on them has become criminal in the country.
Ugly trend, frightening punishment
In May 2015, Ibrahim Bello, the father of a 16-year-old secondary school student, Kafayat, inflicted severe burn injury with a hot iron all over her body as punishment for leaving her duty post in her mother’s shop to play with friends. He had initially whipped her till the girl could not walk.
Around the same period, a five-year-old boy, Olamilekan Mustapha, was beaten to a coma by his father, Adigun, at Surulere area of Lagos, leaving gory looking stripes on the boy’s body when he was rescued by sympathisers.
More shocking was the case of 40-year-old Surulere Raphael, who cut off one of his daughter’s fingers in Jos, Plateau State on June 23, 2015 for stealing N1,500 and meat from a pot of soup.
These cases attest to the ugly trend of extreme punishment, which have turned homes to torture chambers for many children in the country.
Our correspondent went in search of Kafayat and Olamilekan to find out what has happened to them since their cases reached the authorities.
Deaths from extreme punishment
The culture of corporal punishment goes beyond the home front as many schools in the country still engage in this form of correctional action.
But unfortunately, every year in the last three years, one case or another has hit the consciousness of the nation as showing the danger in corporal punishment.
In October 2012, a teacher in a school in Awka, Anambra State, flogged a pupil, Chidinma Ukachukwu, to death for failing to do her homework. In November 2013, a primary school teacher in Ondo State flogged a female pupil, Elizabeth Wanogba, to death for being stubborn in class. He beat her till she fainted and she was pronounced dead in a hospital thereafter.
In one of the most alarming cases in recent times, in February 2014, Chris Elvis, a computer accessory trader in Lagos, padlocked the mouth of his son, Godrich, locked him up in the room and beat him to death accusing him of being an ‘Ogbanje’ (an evil child that dies and reincarnates repeatedly).

SHOCKING: Six die in Kwara waiting for salary arrears

unilorin
The Chairman of the Non- Academic Staff Union of College of Education, College of Education, Ilorin, Mr. Najeem Anas, on Wednesday, said that six members of the union had died between January and June because of financial difficulties arising from non-payment of their salary arrears.
Also workers of some Kwara State Government owned tertiary institutions have decried the non-payment of their salaries for about four months.
The workers who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of victimisation told our correspondent in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital on Wednesday, that they had not received their salaries since March. They stated that this had subjected them to untold hardships.
They stated they could no longer foot the bills of their basic needs including feeding their families, paying their children’s and dependant’s school fees as well as their families’ medical bills.
Some of the state owned tertiary institutions are Kwara State University; Kwara State Polytechnic; College of Education, Ilorin; College of Education, Oro; Kwara State College of Education (Technical), Lafiagi; Kwara State College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies, and Kwara State College of Health Technology, Offa.
The Public Relations Officer, Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, Mr. Abdulkadir Yunus, said workers of the institution had been receiving their salaries promptly, adding that they had been paid even their June salaries.
But our correspondent confirmed from sources that KWASU and College of Education, Ilorin, are among the state owned institutions that their workers are being owed.
The Head, Office of the University Relations, KWASU, Hajia Hamidat Sulyman, when contacted said KWASU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. AbdulRasheed Na’Allah, would respond to our correspondent’s enquiry. Our correspondent gathered that Na’Allah was out of town and so his response was not forthcoming as of the time of filing the story.
Anas alleged that the state government stopped subventions to the college since March.
He stated that the development had inflicted untold hardships on the workers.
“From January to June this year we have lost about six of our members due to lack of funds. Some of them are on medication and because of lack of money to buy drugs some died suddenly. “We do record at least one death per month, though we have not recorded any this July. As a result of that we have gone spiritual and we have counselled one another to take things easy.”
He said the institution’s management was only able to pay them 40 per cent of their salaries for March, April, May and June.
He stated that though   the non-payment of their full salaries was affecting the morale of staff, they were neither planning to engage in street protest, nor strike, but were still waiting patiently for the remaining 60 per cent of their salaries for four months to be paid.
He said NASU believed in dialogue and not in confrontation. He added that they would continue to engage in dialogue, hoping that by continuing on that, the state government and the college management would reason with them and pay them.
He pleaded with the government to pay them the outstanding salaries since the state government had received a bailout from the Federal Government.
The Provost of the College of Education, Ilorin, Dr. Isiaka Opobiyi, said the state government was mindful of the critical situation the workers were faced with.
He stated that the state government was working assiduously to address the situation and remove the plight of the suffering workers.

Abia driver arrested for alleged rape of female passenger

Sexual Assault
A 36 -year-old taxi driver, John Madu, is now cooling off his heels behind bars in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, for allegedly raping a female passenger.
According to the Abia State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ezekiel Onyeke, the 24-year-old female passenger, who was said to be travelling from Lagos to Obehie, was reported to be the only passenger in the taxi when the incident occurred.
He said the victim had boarded the commercial car in Aba after she arrived from Lagos and was traveling to Obehie, a suburb of Aba, when the randy driver decided to sexually assault her.
According to the police spokesman, the driver midway into the journey feigned that his cab had run out of fuel and stopped at a lonely place on the Aba-Port Harcourt Expressway, where he raped the suspect.
Police said the pleas by the victim for the suspect not to defile her as she was a virgin, fell on the driver’s deaf ears as he allegedly overpowered her and raped her right inside the cab.
He also said help could not come the way of the victim on time as the incident occurred very late in the night.
Onyeke added, “At  a spot along the road, the driver pulled off the road, claiming that he  ran out of fuel. The victim, who was not comfortable with the claims of the suspect, left the vehicle on the excuse that she wanted  to ease herself.
“The driver, who suspected rightly that the victim wanted to escape, went after her and forcefully dragged the helpless victim back to the vehicle and raped her despite pleas from the victim that she be spared as she has vowed to keep her virginity till marriage.
“The suspect, who fell asleep after the act and did not know when the victim left the vehicle, was woken up by men of the Operation Safer Highway team on patrol of Obehie, who wanted to know what he was doing alone in the vehicle and on the deserted road at that hour of the night and he told the Police officers that he ran out of fuel.”
The PPRO  said luck ran out on the suspect when the victim, who was hiding in a nearby bush, quickly came out and narrated her ordeal to the police patrol team.
“The suspect was promptly arrested and handed over to the Police at Obehie,” he said.
He said the victim was later  taken to Cottage Hospital, Owaza, for medical attention while the suspect, “who made useful statement to the Police,” would soon be arraigned.

Mother Stabs Daughter, Bites Off Her Ear After Catching Her Having s*x With Lover

Sad-Woman-400x600
Alleged polyandrous housewife identified as Chiekube Igbinosa in Akumazi community, Ika North East local government area of Delta State, at the weekend allegedly bit off the daughter’s ear and stabbed her with broken bottles over rivalry over her boyfriend.
In what looks like a ferry tale, the case of the seed of discord between the housewife and the daughter over boyfriend, it was reliably gathered, was borne out of evil intensions, especially with the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Sources said the fight which allegedly led the mother biting off a scoopful of flesh from the daughter’s ear, including hot damaging slaps, took place around camp 74 behind Ibori Golf course within the Asaba campus of the Delta State University.
The 46-year-old woman said to have been the first love of an Ibo building materials’ trader who was said to have been deported to Nigeria three years ago from Spain, allegedly hoodwinked the woman’s daughter into relationship.
The in question had recently graduated from a university in the South-south region and is on her visit to the mother after her Youth Service in Rivers State.
While their love relationship blossoms, the unsuspecting mother and secondary school vice principal, allegedly showers the lover boy with gifts, including part of her monthly salaries.
But this was not to be when the daughter identified as Mabel Igbinosa flippantly opened up to her friend her relationship with the Igbo man building materials trader, including how he made love to her in marathon exercise.
This, our informed sources said, placed the mother on red alert including watchful eye after the friend secretly let out the discussion to her.
Expectedly, the woman had gone to the Igbo man’s house wearing unsuspecting appearance around Okwe Quarters, Asaba when she was sent to Mile 5 not too far from the man’s residence to buy fish while the daughter who sighted the mother run into a neighbour’s room to hide on the fateful Saturday.
Upon her return from Mile 5, she was sent for another errand by her boyfriend (name withheld) faraway from the house; a situation she smelt a rat of something fishing and under pretence of the errand, hide around the neighbourhood and after a few minutes, the daughter sneaked into the man’s room where the bubble burst.
Sources said that the blowsy–looking woman, who is also into provision store business, stormed a nearby neighbour’s room where she laid siege waiting for her daughter to come out.
Hell was let loose after what was described to be marathon s*x exercise, the girl sauntered out of the room, unknown to her that the mother was around.
She was said to have pounced on her and allegedly bit off her ear before stabbing her with broken bottles.
During the fight, police were invited to the scene where they whisked away the woman, daughter and the lover boy to a police station.
But the police public Relations officer the state, DSP Celestina Kalu who confirmed the arrest of the woman and others, said investigation was ongoing in the matter, adding that the daughter had been taken to the hospital for treatment.

Two policemen were among those killed in the third attack in the country’s capital in less than a month.
Saturday’s blast came a week after suspected Boko Haram fighters killed 26 people in nightly attacks on two villages on Lake Chad.

Shocking: 17 dead in Bangladesh stampede (see photos)

At least 17 people have been killed in a stampede during a handout of free clothes at a factory in the northern Bangladeshi city of Mymensingh, police said.
The stampede erupted on Friday when hundreds of people tried to force their way into the factory compound through a small gate after massing outside the building before dawn, local police chiefs told the AFP news agency.
“We have so far recovered 17 bodies. Most of the dead are poor and emaciated women,” Mymensingh police chief Moinul Haque said.

Kamrul Islam, the senior officer at a police station near the factory, said the death toll could rise.
“Some people had taken the bodies of their relatives before police arrived at the scene,” he said.
The owner of the factory and six others have been arrested, Islam added.
Police said up to 1,500 people had massed outside the chewing tobacco factory at around 4:45am after the plant owners had announced they would distribute free clothes to poor people in accordance with Islamic ritual.
Rich Bangladeshis often distribute free clothes to poor people during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan

Man kills girlfriend, sets her and her son on fire

Fragos-Ramirez is standing trial for the alleged murder of his girlfriend and her son in Washington State. The family suspects the motive behind the killing is jealousy.

Maria G. Cruiz-Calvillo, 18, and Luis F. Lopez-Cruz, 3, were identified on Monday July 6th as the bodies found last week inside a vehicle that was set on fire in a ravine near the intersection of Scootney and Ridge roads. Luis likely was still alive when the car went up in flames, according to Franklin County coroner. Luis would have turned four years old on Thursday 9th of July.

Ramirez was arrested hours into the investigation at his home less than a mile from where the bodies were found. Prosecutors say Ramirez was deported in 2014 and got back into the country illegally.

Family members had never met Fragos-Ramirez, though Cruiz-Calvillo talked to her mother about a guy she was seeing, whom she apparently referred to by the nickname “Loco,” Rodriguez said.
“(The family) thinks she never wanted a serious relationship with him,” Rodriguez said. “It’s jealousy.”

Family members last saw Cruiz-Calvillo the afternoon of her death as she was leaving Othello with Luis for Pasco to make a car payment, court documents said. She routinely went to Pasco to make car payments.

“We checked with the bank,” Rodriguez said. “She made the payment at 3:43 (p.m.).”
2 neighbors saw Cruiz-Calvillo and Luis arrive at Fragos-Ramirez’s home about 4:40 p.m., court documents said. The neighbors recognized the mother and son because they frequent the house on Hogback Road.

Between 10 and 20 minutes later, the neighbors saw the pair and Fragos-Ramirez walking towards Cruiz-Calvillo’s car, court documents said. They didn’t see Fragos-Ramirez return to the house and didn’t see him again until about 7 p.m.

Smoke was spotted coming from the ravine where the bodies were found about 20 to 30 minutes after the trio was seen leaving the home. It took detectives eight minutes to drive from the home to the spot where the bodies were found. Detectives were able to track down Fragos-Ramirez for an interview after Cruiz-Calvillo’s brother, Arturo Calvillo, remembered meeting a man who matched the description of Fragos-Ramirez while at a house on church business. Calvillo took Detective Jason Nunez to the house, and Nunez contacted a woman there.

The woman told Nunez she had a brother who was at the house when Calvillo came over. She called Fragos-Ramirez and handed the phone to Nunez, who then set up an interview.

Fragos-Ramirez told Nunez he last had contact with Cruiz-Calvillo about 2:30 p.m. the day she was killed and had not heard from or seen her since. Nunez arrested Fragos-Ramirez on an outstanding warrant and booked him into jail.

After Nunez spoke to the neighbors, he interviewed Fragos-Ramirez again. Fragos-Ramirez claimed Cruiz-Calvillo came to his house about 5:10 p.m. to bring him cigarettes.

“He said he last saw (Cruiz-Calvillo) and her son leaving his property in her vehicle,” Nunez wrote in a probable cause affidavit. “He said her son was in the back seat in a child seat.”

Nunez searched Fragos-Ramirez’s home and found three clean boxes of .9-mm ammunition stashed in a tire in a dusty shed on the property, court documents said. Fragos-Ramirez admitted to recently having a .9-mm handgun, but claimed he sold it to Cruiz-Calvillo three days before the murders for $300 “because he needed the money for a party he was throwing that day.”

Fragos-Ramirez claimed his brother, Isabel Fragoza, had seen him sell the gun to Cruiz-Calvillo.

Fragoza denied the claim and told Nunez he had seen his brother with a handgun recently, but didn’t know what happened to the gun.

Authorities booked Fragos-Ramirez for two counts of first-degree murder after determining he was seen with the victims shortly before they were killed and that he was unaccounted for when they died.
Prosecutors said in court Monday that Fragos-Ramirez could possibly be charged with aggravated first-degree murder, which carries an automatic sentence of life in prison if convicted.

Man forces wife to wear humiliating sign around the streets (see photos)

Wang Ni, 33, was reportedly beaten by her husband and forced to walk through the steets nearly naked whilst he was under the influence of alcohol.
The husband, named as Zhang, 37, accused the woman of having an extra-marital affair.
Several photographs have emerged showing Wang Ni, 33, walking through the streets in Yushan county, situated in southeast China's Jiangxi province.
Driving in a large black 4x4 vehicle, the husband can be seen moving slowly behind the woman, watching her being humiliated.

The low quality photos show the unmarked car driving close beside the woman, caring little for the possible implications of his actions.
Since the shocking incident happened, an apology notice appeared in a local newspaper, written by the husband, Zhang.
The handwritten notice in a local newspaper was reportedly a apology note written by the woman's husband
Driving slowly alongside the poor woman, the man's actions was reportedly revenge for an alleged affair
According to local media reports, the couple have two daughters and had been married for 10 years.
Zhang worked long hours, running a property development company and is believed to have little time to see his wife, who lived in another city with their children.
Friends of the couple allegedly told local reporters that the husband was blamed his wife for their lack of a son in the family.
The apology letter, written in Chinese, seems to be an attempt to repair the damage between the married couple. It remains unclear what has happened to the man and woman.

Edo man dies during ‘deliverance’ prayer, pastor arrested

There was pandemonium on Okwanga Street around Uselu Quarters in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State on Tuesday after a 45-year-old man, identified as Osayande Ekhator, died ‎during a deliverance session in a Pentecostal church in the area.
It was gathered that the Ekhator had been taken to the church, Hope Ministry, also known as Holy Ghost Deliverance Centre, by his relatives on Monday, due to an undisclosed ailment.
It was, however, learnt that some residents heard a loud cry from the church and rushed there only to discover the lifeless body of the deceased in the church.
Some angry youths were also said to have ‎stormed the church and vandalised some valuable property.
One of the residents, who spoke on condition of anonymity, alleged that the deceased might hit his head against a hard object, as ‎there were blood stains on his head.
“I think he must have hit his head somewhere. I saw blood on his head‎ when his body was placed in a vehicle,” the resident said.
The father of the deceased, Pa Ekhator, said he had suspected that the deliverance session had gone wrong when his son was thrown to the ground, with his hands and legs tied.
He said, “They forced‎ him and tied him as usual and threw him down. From there, they carried a bucket full of water and poured it on his body.
“The mother asked why. They said that is what they usually do‎; that after struggling, they wanted him to have rest and cool down. After about five minutes, she came crying that Osayande is dead.”
But the sister of the deceased alleged that he was “beaten to death” by his deliverers, who had also planned to deposit his remains in a mortuary.

The Resident Pastor of the church, Mrs. Isoken  Ekundaye, denied the allegations.
“We don’t kill here. We don’t beat here. If they bring insane people, we heal,” Ekundaye said‎.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Stephen Onwochei, said the said pastor had been arrested while the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for investigation.

SHOCKING: Boy insert pepper into his girlfriend private part (see photos)

pepper boyfrienD-NL
A 34-year-old man, Solomon Ajisafe, has been arrested by the police for allegedly torturing his girlfriend, Tope Amuda, in the Igbo Olomu, Ikorodu West area of Lagos State.
Punch Metro learnt that Solomon, together with his mother, a leader in the Oodua People’s Congress, and some hoodlums flogged Amuda with canes for alleged adultery.
Our correspondents were told that afterwards, she was taken round the community, before ground pepper was allegedly inserted in her private parts. Continue…
The incident happened last Sunday at about 7pm on Aminu Toyin Street.
A resident, who identified herself only as Adunni, told PUNCH Metro that attempts made by neighbours to stop the torture was rebuffed by the OPC.
Adunni said Amuda, a 25-year-old Osun State indigene, lost her mind due to the trauma she suffered.
She said, “They did not allow anybody to rescue her. They made jest of her for hours as they took her round the community. I saw her; she was speaking to herself and was incoherent. That was when I discovered that she had lost her mind.”
The General Secretary, Igbo Olomu Community Development Association, and Coordinator, Women Arise Initiative in the area, Adebayo Obatungbase, said she reported the matter at the Igbo Olomu Police Division.
She said the community was planning to send away Solomon’s mother, whose name was given simply as Mrs. Ajisafe, from the community.
She said, “The suspect’s mother calls herself a prophetess, but she is also a member of the OPC. We have decided to send her away from this community.”
The Chairman, Igbo Olomu CDA, Michael Adekoya, described the incident as “sheer acts of wickedness.”
He said, “The police are trying, but we need special attention from the government. This community has turned to something else. Why would a normal human being insert pepper in a woman’s private parts?”
However, Solomon told our correspondents that he only slapped his girlfriend, adding that they had been dating for the past four years without anything to show for the relationship.
He said, “I am a hardworking man and I had a son before I met her. We have dated for four years and during that period; there was no child between us. She has been a thorn in my flesh because she always made trouble with my family.
“She later fought with my mother and because of that, she decided to pack out of the house. Nine months later, she returned and said she was three months pregnant for me. That was when I beat her. I confessed to the police that I beat her up, but it was only a slap which made her eye to swell.”
Solomon’s sister-in-law, Ayomide Ajayi, a nursing mother, who was equally arrested, told PUNCH Metro she was innocent.
Ajayi, 27, said, “I don’t know anything about the allegation. You can ask her.”
But the victim, Amuda, insisted that Solomon and his family members tortured her.
Amuda, who spoke in Yoruba, said, “He and his family members used bottle to insert pepper into my private parts. I am done with this relationship. Let everybody go their separate ways.”
A police source told one of our correspondents it was possible Amuda was also flogged with a charm.
The source said, “When we picked her from the general hospital, she could barely walk. They really dealt with her and she has been giving us some useful information on their occult operation.”
Our correspondents learnt that the Office of the Public Defender had equally shown interest, leading to the arraignment of Solomon and Ayomide before an Ikorodu Magistrate’s Court on three counts of assault.
